Meet Team Captricity: Raphael Merx
December 31, 2014 by Raphael Merx
My name is Raph, and I was born and raised in Paris, France. I studied engineering as an undergraduate, and came to the US for my master’s degree in Operations Research at UC Berkeley. I originally joined Captricity as an intern, using AngularJS to build the new data results feature of Shreddr, which is our core Django app. Now I’m a full-stack developer and full-time member of the team.
What I like about Captricity is its mission of providing access to data to the organizations around the world that need it most, and also the interesting technical challenges that we engineers face, from machine learning to UX. More than anything, I’m proud to work on something that matters with people I share a lot of values and good times with.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking and reading the news. More recently, I started rock climbing with my fellow engineer Nicholas. I also like to grumble about politics. In case you haven’t realized from my picture, in addition to keeping my code clean I keep windshields clean as well.
