Meet Team Captricity: Netta Ascoli
May 13, 2015 by Netta Ascoli
Hi! My name is Netta Ascoli, and I am the newest addition to the Customer Success team at Captricity. I first learned about Captricity after meeting Andrea Spillmann-Gajek at the 2014 Social Capital Markets Conference in San Francisco; I was instantly drawn to the mission and innovation of the company!
I joined Captricity after four years at the World Affairs Council -- specifically, working with high school students to connect them to the world at large and training them to take action on issues of global importance. Previously, I worked with the International Rescue Committee in San Diego to develop curriculum, interned at the Inter-American Dialogue in DC researching remittance patterns and served as a Language and Culture Assistant for the Spanish Ministry of Education, teaching middle school students in Los Corrales de Buelna, Spain.
I studied International Studies and Spanish as an undergrad at the University of Denver and received my Master’s in International Development from UC San Diego. I studied abroad in Granada, Spain and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and absolutely love to travel. Besides scheming up ways to traverse the globe, my hobbies include yoga, exploring Bay Area neighborhoods, trying new restaurants and watching as many movies as possible.
A jump into the tech world didn't seem like a logical step, but Captricity's commitments to a dynamic work environment and economic development/equitable access to data convinced me. First, team Captricity’s diverse backgrounds are such a strength - our combined histories allow us to tackle problems in innovative ways. We have veterans, world-travelers, female engineer leads, nonprofit professionals, yogis, MBAs, a competitive weightlifter, PhDs and more! Second, I look forward to helping Captricity expand its work with nonprofits and international development practitioners like PATH, the Grameen Foundation, IPA and Sanergy. Check out captricity.org and you'll understand why I couldn't pass up this opportunity.
